Home remains relatively expansive in Austin’s cooling housing market, but a surge in homebuilding has helped the metro area earn one of the highest marks in the country in a new national affordability analysis. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos metro ranked sixth among the nation’s 100 largest metropolitan areas, earning an A- in Realtor.com’s inaugural Metro Affordability and Homebuilding Report Cards. It was one of just 10 metros to receive an A-range grade and the second-highest ranked metro in Texas behind No. 4 Houston.
