Despite numerous return-to-office initiatives in the past few years, remote work is persisting above pre-pandemic levels in the Austin metro area and across the nation. In the U.S., employees spent an average of 26% of full paid days working from home in May, according to survey results published by the St. Louis Federal Reserve. While that’s nowhere near the 62% remote work rate during the pandemic in May 2020, it’s still higher than a prepandemic estimated rate of about 7% in December 2019.
